What both paths have in common
- Egypt is a party to the STCW Convention, so Egyptian certificates follow the international STCW standards of training and certification.
- Every seafarer must complete safety familiarization and basic training under STCW VI/1.
- The seafarer's document (maritime passport) is issued by EAMS, separately for marine officers and engineers and for other shipboard professions.
- Every seafarer holding an STCW certificate and serving at sea must also hold a valid medical certificate.
Beware of scams
- Check any certificate of competency on the EAMS website before you trust it — the authority offers an online certificate verification service.
